A Letter from Jonathan Cox

I am a volunteer Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) with Franklin County Public Hospital District #1. Our Hospital District responds to medical emergencies, auto accidents, and is the only agency in our coverage area with ambulances to transport patients to area hospitals for neighboring fire districts.

Our district has seen an increase of 21% in emergency calls over the past two years and while it is difficult, we now must ask for your help in the form of a levy lift to continue to provide the level of care that our community needs and deserves.

The rise in emergency calls highlights the growing demand for emergency medical services in our area. Our levy request would hire three full-time EMS personnel so we can improve response capabilities and response times. This will improve the quality of care and save lives.

The levy request would also renovate one of our stations to accommodate personnel for faster response times. The station renovation will also provide us with the space to receive the ongoing training and certification our jobs require.

Becoming an EMS provider for Franklin County Public Hospital District #1 has been one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life.  Our community has an opportunity to come together and prioritize the well-being of our families, friends, and neighbors. By approving this measure, we can ensure that EMS is a priority for all.
